Sunday was a quiet day at home. I needed it - I work up with a splitting headache after 6 hours in a club directing people up to a private party. They had a covers band - the sound was astonishing, I’m amazed my ears didn’t bleed. The people were lovely - as were the regular customers - they were no trouble. I got home at about 1.30am. I’ll be doing the same next Saturday.
I’ve made a bean casserole in the slow cooker. I was looking forward to it but I’ve eaten too much already today - I went out to buy dog food and they had a spinach pie reduced to £2 and I couldn’t resist. It was very good. (Update - the casserole was a bit so-so)
I’ve cleaned the house and done some washing, being at home for the day really helps - although I did get one client email. I’ll be in work early Monday - looks like a busy, if unprofitable week ahead. I have some illustrations to finish that I’m actually very pleased with - I’ll be getting paid for them - but at design rates, not illustrator rates - so I’ll earn a fraction and have no copyright usage control.
I have branding work for the rest of the week - good projects, very challenging, for clients with no cash - and a few other scraps.
I have some financial issues that have been rumbling away in the background that I’ve not been in a position to deal with properly - I’ll have to face them tomorrow.
Out of sheer boredom and some curiosity - I have shaved my head but left my beard, it looks awful - but it’s a change - I expect it will last about a week, then when I go back to normal - everyone will tell me how much better I look.
On Saturday I stripped out all the electrical cables in the kitchen - I was finally able to find the supply cable that went into the kitchen, under the floor, by taking up all the floorboards in the dining room. I also found loads of other cables, all un-connected, and loads of pipes - it was quite damp down there too. I don’t want to think about it. I need to figure out a few other things before I go any further - it occurred to me that I have no idea how the lighting in there is supplied with electricity - it doesn’t seem to be connected to anything and I refuse to try and take the ceiling down.
