Hastings

This is a shot from 1904 - this view is almost the same today - except that Wisden - the sports shop on the corner - which is STILL a sports shop, has a modern shop facade. The man standing in the doorway is standing exactly where I stand every day - this is the door to my studio, The Printworks. The Library is still next door and the shop to my left (viewer's right) is the showroom for Dyke and Dean. We are just along from the seafront - which is to the left of this picture.

Oh, the comfort of things not changing ... Anne, who moved here from Canada in 1997 & was delighted to find two shops still in Marylebone, in the same place as when her father was born there in 1906.
