Tuesday

Rain all night. general flooding in the South Coast, apparently... due to continue raining for 72 hours at least. Really looking forward to a bit of decent weather.

Woman on the radio - MP for something or other, is talking about the blight, fear and uncertainty or HS2, lets expect 25 years of nimbyism and procrastination on this one. Everyone is an expert on this one They keep talking about 'blight' - we had a railway line practically at the bottom of our garden as a child, never bothered me. Apparently, lives will be "UTTERLY DESTROYED" - I'll remember that next time I'm stuck on a train for 4 hours traveling to a destination I can actually see from my house.

Talking of Lives utterly destroyed. The brother of a close friend was up at the Old Bailey yesterday ( I won't provide a link, you won't have any difficulty finding it on the Daily Mail website ). The prosecution accepted his plea of manslaughter due to diminished responsibility, as opposed to murder - the trail was expected to last a week, but lasted half a day. Quite how he can get way with that, I just don't know. He has a long history of violence and abuse, drug addiction and phsychotic episodes. Having already served a prison sentence for beating a toddler half to death with a baseball bat in a random attack on Marylebone high street and a string of other convictions - he was never a stupid person, was well aware how to manage his condition and the reponsibilities of PS. His family lived in fear of him, except his elderly mother who was the only one who would care for him - and he repaid that by beating her to death, gouging out her eyes and decapitating her. The consequences of this have obviously effected many, many people and damaged ( and potentially ruined ) other lives. Manslaughter isn't the same as murder, he's now entitled to inherit his mothers estate. He's being sentenced today, and will probably go back to somewhere that 'cares' for him. I'm all out of human kindness today.
