I'm still at work, having a break - I've done half a day and then been assaulted by harassing phone calls from other clients and it's 'put me off' so I've had a late lunch. There was also a refrigerated van outside for an hour with it's generator on full for an hour - deafening, and the cafe round the corner was up to no good, as the building was filled with the overwhelming stench of overcooked bacon. There is a vegetarian wholefood shop a couple of doors away - they probably had to close early in distress. My clients mother came round with a home made carrot cake - so I can't complain.
Just taken a bit of time to read the papers - the Scum thinks it would be 'Perverse' not to print a photograph of a naked Prince harry on it's front cover - just wondering - when is it NOT perverse to print a photograph taken secretly of someone naked in their own private space - sold by someone without the subjects consent, and printed expressly against the wishes of the subject - isn't that ilegal... or 'perverse'. I have no interest in the Royal family - but even they are allowed to do private stuff, live some sort of private life and let their hair down. They are not even very good pictures. As the sun pointed out - everyone in the world has already seen them - so why print them, other than to make a rather shabby and feeble point about press freedom. The editors of The Scum really need to pop over to a country where 'press freedom' actually means something, or is just an unobtainable dream.
Working at this office is very distracting - I can see out of a large window and everyone interesting/weird/strange/freaky in hastings seems to pass by on a regular basis - also a large number of people with small pug dogs - usually dressed up in strange outfits, I have just seen a pug in a pink ballerina outfit, complete with tiara. The owner was a woman of decidedly masculine appearance.
I bumped into someone I know this morning and had a conversation about the future of my industry, it's the first time I've ever actually verbalised how I feel about it, going forward - it ruined my day.
Really enjoyed listening to the Daniel Tammet book on radio 4 this week - it made "Womens Hour' managable. Just.
