Erm, I must admit, I'm not keen on any of those entries - they pale in comparison with this: http://s0.geograph.org.uk/photos/16/32/163258_1bde61fb.jpg

They all look a bit like 1990s lamp designs to me (but what would I know).

I do love the traditional pylon - but I think that they are all interesting and some quite elegant - but then I also like cooling towers....

Oh, I'm with you on cooling towers. My quarrel with the competition entries is that they're all rather timid and 'tasteful' - it's as if the designers are trying to preempt trouble from Prince Charles. I *really* hate number five, it's like something that's fallen off a Westfield shopping centre. Number one offends me the least, perhaps because it's the most utilitarian... Which is your favourite?

I like 1 and 6, of course - one they get past the 'artistic render' stage - they will end up looking like scrap metal.

Yes, I think number six will win... It complements the gorse bushes in the Photoshop mock-up, I suppose. If the designers really want to achieve architectural grandeur and grace, they should study your doggy: http://newgreyarea.blogspot.com/2011/09/so-what-do-you-contribule-to-this.html
