One more day to go.....

... early this morning I was on my way into the building, I've got into the habit of going in through the back doors, where they have deliveries etc. One of the cleaners was coming towards the door as I was going in and as I opened the door with my security card ( a smallish, friendly looking woman aged about 55, she was carrying something ) and held it open for her - she said "Thank you, Sir" - I was so shocked I left it too long before I could say anything. I can't believe I live in a country where someone still feels the need to call me 'sir' because I'm 'white' collar and they are 'blue'. I was angry and embarrassed. I wanted to run after her and tell her not to do that again, for me or anyone.. but it would have been too late. Frankly, I felt ashamed.
