Cold - but nice outside - first proper 'clear' day in weeks. The dog walk would have been much better if some fuckwit hadn't let his doberman go for Alfie. You would think that by having a large, powerful and rather badly trained dog - you might try and keep it on the lead - I managed to get it to back off by shouting very, very loud. My dogs are now always going to be scared of dobermans. Fucking stupid.
The papers are much the same - I think that everyone is in a very self reflective mood - there are loads of stories about hair loss, male pattern baldness and it's cures. From Gordon Ramsey and his rather pointless and very expensive hair transplant, to Carey Mulligan taking pills to improve the quality of her badly bleached thatch. I started losing my hair about 18 years ago. Would I have it back if I could - of course... but not if cost me money, meant enduring surgery or taking medication. When I worked in London I was always amazed at how many men have hair transplants ( they are really obvious ) or dye their hair - which is again... really obvious. The awful truth is I probably look much better without it.
I have noticed that once men of my social demographic / class / orientation blah blah blah hit 45 they start getting a bit silly - having tattoo's - getting piercings, buffing up, growing silly little trendy beards and wearing tight T shirts... not for me - I'm afraid, thank God I left Brighton while I had the chance.
I've been watching a lot of rolling news recently - it's fascinatingly shit. Last night an American Congresswoman was shot and 6 other people murdered in a terrible and as yet unexplained attack in America. The news reporters have been having a field day with nothing to say, padding it out endlessly - but rather creatively. One report last night talked about the political implications of the assault - followed directly by an in depth discussion on if the assault had been too politicised. I miss a gentler age when I had the chance to form my own opinion.
Sarah Palin has sent her condolences... which is a bit rich, considering her website has a 'hit list' of targets for the republican Tea Party - including the shot congresswoman - each one identified on the map by the cross hairs of a gun sight.
