Xmas Eve...

... and it's bloody perishing - howling wind all night. Remembered to get up early to put the bins out, had to scrape all the ice and snow off them - was caught by the milkman putting them out in my pyjamas.

The dog walk was very cold - not a single person out anywhere - and I don't blame them. The black ice is now like glass and I had trouble staying upright.

Among other things today - I have to scrub all the downstairs floors, which might not sound very xmassy - but I'm popping out later to the Dragon Bar for a few drinks after lunch - then lockdown for 24 hrs. I'm having a drink in the Jenny after lunch tomorrow -and I'm going to lunch on Monday - which is about as enough action as I can bear for one year.

If, like me, you don't do xmas - can I recommend -

 - This Happy Breed and Brief Encounter on Film 4, the original Scrooge with Alistair Sim on C5 - and The Edwardian Farm on BBC2, then there is also an MR James Ghost story afterward - has had good reviews. Peerless.
