Quick skoot around the media...

...nothing much to report - this book about Kenneth Williams looks quite interesting. I saw Graham Norton on the telly on Friday being interviewed. It occurred to me then that KW would have despised him - I think we are supposed to see them cast in the same mold - but for all GN's popularity and vulgarity - he has none of the wit, intelligence and class of Williams. Depressing.

There is also quite a good, well presented argument for Hastings here, that also makes an interesting point about the 'big society' - the Pier was seen as an iconic example of how it might work... until some pondlife scuppered it - typical.

Hastings is a town that doesn't know how beautiful it is. Slung between cliffs, crowned by a Norman castle, it has an old town of steep streets which, if there were nothing else, would make it as famously picturesque as pretty, posher, Rye along the coast. It has history: it's hard to get more historic than to give your name to a battle that changed a nation, a culture and a language.
