Singalonga Moz

Went to a very good Smiths night yesterday at Eat in Claremont, I'd had a very 'difficult' day - I've started teaching the evening classes again - and they are really hard work - and just before there was a very nasty work related kick-off that I don't want to go into.

It was just what I needed, very cleverly worked out, a bit of a disco - a very, very good band who played their own version of Smiths Classics rather than pastiches - and then accompanied anyone who wanted to get on stage and re-interperate their favourite smiths song - not like a Karoke, think big band cabaret - very good. It worked really well, partly because they were such an exceptionally good band. I've been to dozens of Smiths Disco's and after show parties all over the country and this was the best one.

The crowd were very cheery and enthusiastic - there were gladioli, and a couple of classic middle aged Smiths casualties who were lost in their own little world of dancing and flailing. a good time was had by all. Apparently the next one will be late '70s New York Bowie - nice! I'm going to suggest an early Blondie night - might get my wig out for that one.

The Organic beer made me quite ill, but you can't have everything.
