Identity Crisis.
I have new shoes. I've been meaning to pick up a pair of these for some time. From the age of 15 to 40 they are the only shoes I ever wore ( not the same pair, I used to have at least 3 on the go at the same time ). They were a really important part of my identity and could never imagine wearing anything else. My whole self image revolved around them.
Once I bought this place and the recession kicked in they suddenly became a luxury and I started buying very similar but much cheaper shoes. As a result I've realised I had very little sense of myself and it's just contributed to my crushingly low self esteem - I don't actually look like 'me' anymore.
I bought them with some money that probably have gone to the inland revenue ( ssshhh! ) - and as mid life crisis's go, it's hardly on a par with buying full leathers and a Harley - but I do feel a lot better about myself now. I know it's only a pair of shoes..... but they are perfect.
While I'm on the subject. A pair of basic loose cut Levis 501's has gone from 60 quid last year to 75 quid. As a result I bought a pair of cheap lookey-likey jeans. The result being badly cut, not quite the right colour, less than comfortable jeans that make me feel wretched when I wear them. A false economy. Mind you - I have always wanted a bright red V neck sweater - like Hunting Pink - they have the perfect one in Westwood for £280..... I got an almost identical number in Debenhams for 15 quid.

I like the shoes and the photo, especially the way you've partly concealed the 'knob head, prick, arsehole, decoration.
I've tried, but just don't understand that comment.
I know what you mean about the loss of identity. It's been so many years since I've been able to afford clothes I've forgotten who I am/was. Also, living in London, I saw so many people 'like me' everywhere that I was constantly provided with ideas and inspiration.
I love the color. Doc Martens are a luxury here, about $150 a pair. I know they're great quality, but I feel guilty buying anything over $20.
ooh fab..cc inspired you!!!
