THursday Morning. Early

It's 5.30am. Nice.

Worked had again yesterday. After work I had a quick drink with my client at a place called 'Frank's Front Room'. Originally a semi derelict old commercial building in central Hastings, opposite the station - the occupants took over exactly one year ago and turned it into a bar cafe - despite being very small - roughly the same as my own house, it's been very successful Really well run, full of odd 2nd hand furniture - you can have cakes, food, coffee or wine and local beers. Sadly - they are closing on Saturday - not because of business - which is steady, but because the owners have decided he wants 4.5K pcm. That's the equivalent of a £1million pound mortgage. I'm gutted - so is everyone else - you could take anyone their - they allowed kids and pets, old people would sit there and eat their cakes and do the crossword, you could reserve the back room, they even spent their own money in adding specially made double glazed sash windows. Being by the station it was a great place to meet people off the train, and you could have clients there - it was nice, comfortable, quirky and respectable. On Saturday you can have a drink and buy the fixtures and fittings.I'm very sad.

It's the sort of thing ones MP would get involved with - if she wasn't so fucking useless - as this article in the FT demonstrates, and yes - one of the angry comments at the end is from me.

Lots of work to do today - in house again - and tomorrow. Need to send some work off to another client before 9am, hence the early start - and a couple of clients are already chasing last months invoices.

If you are free, any weekend this month - I shall be showing at '9 by 9' as part of the Brighton Open Houses - a joint show with - yes, that's right, 8 other people. It's a very nice house - the other people are lovely as is their work - If I get the chance I'll take pictures for anyone who can't go.

You have always been a good propagandist for Hastings ; I have altered my opinion of it since reading your blog.

The same thing is happening to Arcade, but they're hanging on hoping the owner stops being so greedy.
