Bank Holiday Monday

It's one of the biggest days in the Hastings Calendar - with Jack in the Green, much carousing, drinking, parading, dressing up and painting one's face green. I'm going to work.

Today is probably the only chance I'm going to get to catch up on work and admin - I'll be the only person there - even better, and can just get on with everything withut being bothered. I'm also quite sure I'm not in the mood for drinking and falling over in the street.

Last night, I went to buy milk in the early evening, I could hear distant drumming, screaming and smell burning flesh. As this is Hastings, it didn't cause any alarm.

Last night, I tried to watch 'Endeavour' - the More spin off. It's essentially Morse - but set in the 1950's.... which is, I suppose, the whole point. I had to give up after a while - I was watching on the computer and there were constant adverts, and each one was for a gambling or bingo service - as was the header and footer - it really pissed me off. It would seem that they have replaced the constant adds from a few years ago for loans, credit cards and equity release schemes.

Tere is an article on the radio about the new pensions bill, to make it impossible for someone not to be able to claim pension payments based on a spouse's pension payments - even though they, themselves, have never set foot in this country. Sounds fair?. Well - yes, but, after my father had died and my mothers life became very difficult - she probably only survived because she was able to get a pension from Switzerland based on my father having worked there for years before they met. It wasn't much, something like £10pcm - but to her - it was a life savour. Nothing is black and white.
