Sunday PM

Spent almost the whole day in bed. Actually feel worse now - so bought a box of Beechams from the COOP as a last ditch attempt to get rid of this cold. The COOP was full of people in shorts and T Shirts buying alcohol and crisps. When I woke up this morning, it was cold and wet - now it's bright, sunny... and very warm - as if there has been some huge tectonic shift during the day and we are now in the southern hemisphere. It names fails to amaze and annoy me that people go to the supermarket and then have to call someone on the phone to help them shop - everyone was at it, one man couldn't decide what sort of bin bags he needed and was getting urgent advice, another girl was trying to decide what a potato was and getting a description from her mother - and countless others were blocking the aisles with a sea of stupid.

Early, when I first got up - I went to B&Q to pick up some wallpaper paste, and picked up a nice table lamp made from a single piece of glass - when I got home and carefully placed the bag on the table I was treated to the 'ping' of it shattering into a thousand pieces.

Last night, during a weaker moment - I was reminded of an episode from a few years ago when something I bough inexplicable ended up 'belonging to someone else' - I'm very good at being ripped off and having people take advantage of me - it happens a lot, not as much as it used to - but I do go around with 'mug' written on my forehead. This particular item (a painting) was one of those odd things that superficially appears worthless but is actually quite valuable that I stumbled across on ebay. I was going through quite a bad time, my mother was dying and I'd been splitting my time between her house and mine - and then dealing with her death etc - so I was fairly distracted. I don't really remember how this happened but I ended up buying something and paying for it - and then it ending up being 'theirs' - they were very good at taking advantage of my better nature and over the years I'd bailed them out financially quite a few times, including one episode when I loaned them the money to stop their house being repossessed, at least that's what they told me - they actually used it to go on holiday with someone. I'm not unique - they did pretty much the same thing to everyone they know. ANYWAY, the point I was going to make is - in this distracted moment I did a quick google search and - lo and behold, the Painting I'm talking about popped up - they had sold it a couple of weeks ago - for much less that I think it's worth. In the moment it took to absorb this information I realised you could check their ebay history to see if there is anything else of mine on there - and I could also see what they bought. Their last purchase was an item of 'costume' of a sexual nature. A ridiculous concoction of leather, studs and straps. I imagine it's the kind of thing that people get found in, trussed up and dead with a bag over their head in a South London bedsit, and their shame faced family have to try and keep it out of the papers.
