Saturday

Had to cut the early dog walk short - the country park path was flooded and didn't feel like wading my way through the mud, niether did the dogs. Not complaining - quite mild today.

Worked in-house yesterday - hard work but really enjoyed it - went for a drink with my client after - which was nice etc. Between us we managed to resolve the important issue of where the full stop goes when you are using quotation marks - either before or after - we both admitted to having kerned the full stop directly below the quotation marks on more than one occasion as a compromise.

Got up early, made a pot of coffee and spent an entertaining 15 mins scrolling through twitter, perplexing - the number of people who should know better who have a drink and then decide to share a private conversation with several million people ( no - not me, I never 'tweet' ).

Still trying to avoid the Great British Public - seriously don't understand how anyone in their right mind can seriously think that downloading a shit song onto their iPhone is a legitimate political protest - without actually having questioned where the money they are paying goes to - quite clearly not where they would wish - and celebrating a song featuring a young and talented, but abused and exploited girl who's life was a tragic mess of drink and drugs and ended in an undignified mess in a hotel toilet - and a group of disabled people who had only been able to earn a living as circus freaks and were worked half to death on the set, and then found that for the rest of their lives they would be figures of curiosity and comic amusement, paraded around in lurid costumes.

In other parts of the world, people feel no option but to express themselves by dousing themselves in petrol of sewing up their mouths  - here - we buy ring tones. What a bunch of mugs. Someone on the radio said yesterday that Thatcher would have been horrified if there hadn't been protests at her funeral - why not just ignore the whole bloody thing and go out and do something practical instead. - vaguely thinking about taking the day off - going to the cinema or - if the weather is decent, a long bike ride. I had already planned a trip to London next week - which I have cancelled - can't be bothered with all the fuss.

Have quite a lot to do today - but it's going to rain again and I'm still struggling to get rid of this cold that's been hanging around since xmas.

Two interesting articles in the paper. You can now do a degree in Circus Skills - and a woman has her nose bitten off at a Butlins by another woman - seriously... who would go to Butlins in April?
