25 years ago today, I was at Royal College - about 2 weeks into a course I hated with people I mostly didn't like. I was living in a brick built LCC council block in Peckham. They were very sturdy - so I slept through the big storm - waking to find almost every tree on the road down, several into the front of the house. No traffic, no transport - confusion and devastation everywhere. There is a photograph of me somewhere taken standing in the giant hole left after a great oak in Regent's Park had fallen, along with about 15 other people. I'll see if I can find it. I specifically remember the press at the time claiming that the landcape of England was ruined and would take 1000 years to recover. They were, of course - talking bollocks. Nothing changes.
I have a really bad pain in my head - this is due to either A - the fact that I hit my head on a galvanised bucket yesterday ( it hurt ) or B, my ear infection has come back - which is what it feels like.
It's really cold today - I shall be wearing a wooly hat - should have worn gloves on the dog walk. This pot of coffee is very welcome.
By the end of the week it will be revealed that everyone who worked at BBC1 was a predatory pedophile, this includes Janis Long, Sooty and Sweep and Fluff Freeman.
Watched that chap jump out of a capsule and drop to earth at absurd speed - not really sure why he put himself through that, was astonished at how soft his landing was - I get into more trouble getting out of a car. He's just been on the radio talking about the pressure suits they worse - saying they want to develop them so that Astronauts can bale out of spacecraft in emergencies.... won't they burn up?
Talking of which - giant comet due in the skies in 12 months time - exciting.
