Friday

Day 5 of my accidental 'nearly' holiday. Yesterday - despite weakening and doing a few small bits of work - I impressed myself by re-arranging most of the furniture - including the movement of a very large, very heavy set of school lockers, upstairs, on my own. This was either A, a gargantuan feat of human strength and tenacity  or B, very stupid and reckless. Anyway, looks great in the Office. Have done massive amounts of clearing out - the Salvation Army shop is very happy with me. I took one box in early yesterday and the woman's eye's lit up with delight - she remembers me from last time.

Despite a number of offers - I've refused to go out anywhere - just not been in the mood. I've also noticed that the sudden darkness in the evening makes me want to go to bed at about 7.30. It already feels like midnight.

On Monday - I'm hoping to 'start' at the studio with an archiving exercise - I have 20 years of CD's and DVD's to go through - extract all I need to retain and keep a hard drive and off line version of everything - will take about 2 days. More stuff to move over to the studio and I need to sort out new stationary to go with it.

Xmas is nearly here, according to the shops. The decorations center at ESK has been restocked at least twice already.

I have very strong suspicions that the B&Q in Ore is being wound down. They have started using temporary signage and very little stock remains. Quite a valuable piece of real estate - and right in my view from the house.

I wish you could apply live filters to the media - I just want to block the whole Jimmy Saville thing out - really don't want any of it in my head. The newspapers are having a great time - at least they are not the bad guy's for a change - but some of the reporting is beyond the pale. I read an article by one journalist that defended the papers and said that the Levinson case and all of the fuss about press intrusion was put into a new perspective by the Saville scandal and shows that the press have a moral right to harass people, think they are slightly missing the point here - hacking a dead schoolgirls telephone and stealing peoples hospital records isn't acceptable EVER. They also seem to have forgotten that they all knew about Saville for years and chose not to do anything about it.

I'm probably pushing my luck by mentioning this - but Little Mouse hasn't weed in the house for a week - now, we have been here before in the past - I suspect that it has something to do with me being here all day. I am sure that if I leave the house for more than an hour, it will be back to the mopp bucket.

A man has been sent to prison for 8 months for wearing an offensive home made T shirt. I've seen the T shirt, rererring to the murder of 2 police women recently. The man is clearly an idiot, quite un acceptable behavior and it's good to know that many members of the public reported him to the police and he didn't get very far with his shopping that day,  but Prison? Do you know how much that costs??? Between £28 and £37 thousand pounds per year depending on catagory - what happened to community service. He should have been made to do something practical. Being stupid and ignorant can't really be called a crime, you have to tread very carefully here. There was a huge righteous outcry when 3 women started a punk concert in Moscow recently and were sent to prison for 2 years, accusations that it was political and couldn't happen here - their crime was 'hooliganism and offending the church' - what's the difference here?

I have been an avid fan of your blog for a couple of years now. I must say since you have become more solvent your blog has become less humorous. I miss the bitterness, such is life.

Oddly enough - I had assumed that the bile and bitterness had driven people away... it's something I can easily remedy - believe me, things might be better - but most of life is a yawning gaping chasm of pain and woe
