Ah yes, Friday. Working inhouse again today.
Slightly cooler, overcast, windy. One of these days I must do some research and find out exactly what they are talking about on the Shipping Forecast - it's what I wake up to every morning - I might as well understand it properly.
I've been invited to drinks later - but I'm probably going to give it a miss - it's a redundancy party - can't think of anything worse. It will be composed mainly of people who hate their jobs but are secretly relieved that it wasn't them - so they will drink too much and act like idiots. At least one person will be sitting in the corner nursing a warm beer with tears in their eyes.
"Watching couples talk earnestly about the price of three-bedroom houses close to St Albans town centre is soothing and soporific, like lying in a warm bath tinged pink by your own blood".
Above is a line from the Guardian Review of last nights Location, Location, Location - made me very glad I don't have a TV any more.
Last night, as I cycled home from work - I was gripped by the most phenomenal pain and cramp - half way up the hill I assumed it was a heart attack. It wasn't - it was of course just the occasional return of my IBS ( no idea what brought that back on ) but it really did feel like I was dying. I didn't - obviously - but I coud have done without it.
One of my clients has paid a small-ish invoice - there are 4 more hanging about in the ether - waiting to hit my account - all of them quite large. I'm at home over the weekend - actually, have not worked out where I'm working next week - I'll have to try and sort that out this week, I'm only working 3 days - off to London on Thursday for more dental work at Kings College, so taking Friday off - I'm back in Hospital the following Tuesday - so I'm having my 'summer holiday' over the same period as compensation.
A big job I did a lot of work on goes to print today, it has quite a few of my illustrations in it - Looking forward to seeing the results next week.
Started reading the book on Quantum Physics last night - the pages are set to a very long line length with minimal borders, very small font nd vey tight leading - I managed about 8 pages before I had to stop. It's quite well written, but obviously I've not hit anything difficult yet - beginning to wonder why I didn't get the audio book. I did, however - download 'Witness for the Prosecution' to play on my ipod while I'm on the train next week. One of my favourite films.
I really need to work out if there is a way to download films from Youtube to make them compatible with an Ipod - have discovered a huge trove of obscure 50's B moves in high definition - may never leave the house again.
Seriously don't give a toss about the Duchess of Cambridge and her topless shots.
One of my friends is part of the way through the full Hillsborough report - she's mortified. I'm probably going to read it myself once the fuss has died down.
Might have a bonfire tomorrow - last time I had one, a neighbour wrote a letter of complaint to the papers - tempted to wind her up again.
