Sunday.

I've gone deaf in one ear. This annoys me.

It's the God Slot on the radio - it was proper old school - the even had violins.

After working all day yesterday I was at a loose end in the evening. I didn't want to go out so I had curry, a beer and watched some films. The curry was nice, not had one for years. I bought cheap beer that had no actual alcohol in it - so I'm felling fresh this morning. Apart from being deaf.

I found that I had 3 copies of 'A Chorus Line' - all of which came free with various newspapers. I watched it with some kind of morbid fascination - I loathe musical theatre, I just don't understand why a grown adult could participate in such absurdity - let alone enjoy watching it. When the plucky Puerto Rican stereotype started bleating 'I Felt Nothing" - I knew exactly what she meant. I sat there with the same kind of horror that you get watching Saw movies. I really couldn't get my head around the central relationship between Micheal Douglass and the girl in the terrible the wig - he should have just punched her her lights out and sent her back to wherever. The big 'showpiece song' - which is probably the one aimed at drag queens and bad cabaret singers, was just fucking awful. If this reflects real life, then all singers and dancers have low self esteem, seriously distorted self image and a whole raft of underlying mental health issues... oh, hang on.....

The papers are a bit shit, they all have a stock shot of Brighton Beach covered in bikini clad lovelies with some crass headline ( I've seen Red October 3 times ). That lazy shot is getting so old you can probably spot Caren Carpenter in the crowd. The Sunday Mail had an article ( I kid you not ) where 3 plastic surgeons give you advice on how NOT to get a face like Madonna's. There is also an article about politico Lousie Mensch - 'has she had a face lift' - there is a before and after shot - and she looks exactly the same - 100% no difference - as if anybody actually cared.

I have some work to do this evening - but I'm probably going to spend the day catching up on jobs and burning things in the garden - that will cheer me up.
