Up nice and early - lovely day. last night I went over to a friends house to see his new film, and it was great - he wants to make a couple of small changes, but I was very impressed - I've asked him. I'll be flagging it up here when is available to see.

Cycled home at about 11.30. There was no rioting, just people in pubs having a nice time and the candle light from the tables in Harris's Bistro. A couple of the seagulls looked a bit iffy and a badger gave me a hard stare at the top of the hill, but otherwise, all was calm. I lived in Peckham during the riots in the late 80's - which was very surreal - and my mate Terry was taking pictures out of his window last night of the police action in Toxteth. It's depressing - it's nothing to do with politics or social injustice, it's just criminality and greed. I'd just turn off the social networks and mobile phone satellites and send in the water cannons. A friend of someone I know has apparently lost her house and everything she owns in fire last night, depressing. At some point - Cameron will use the line 'Lessons have Been Learned' - at which point a real riot might be justified. The papers are having a field day - personally I'm fascinated by what else manages to make to to the front pages...
