What a weird day... I've mostly been working at home with the radio on, listening to the Radio 4 presenters get increasingly silly about 'the situation'. There have been rumours all day that riots are starting in Hastings, with reports that the station is in flames, there are smashed windows and blood in the streets. None of this is true. The weather is far too nice, and besides - nobody in Hastings will riot unless they can do it in fancy dress and spread it over a long weekend - preferably with a bank holiday thrown in.
earlier - Went over to see a friend who lives on east Ascent - she is in one of the lovely big houses that had a sea view before Marine Court was build - I really liked it - I'd love to live in a Georgian house again, there rooms are so well proportioned. She has a rough haired pointer and a new boxer - who is a lovely, affectionate little think with beautiful brown eyes as big as golf balls. I took rhubarb.. I still have about 2 hundredweight.
I have a few jobs to do - but technically... I'm on holiday until Tuesday - I never go on holiday, I'm staying at home - of course, but I have loads I want to do, or at least start - and the weather looks good. I'm also in London one day next week - something I've been looking forward to for ages.
No sounds of rioting or breaking glass from outside, just seagulls and my neighbours children playing on their lawn.
