My idea of a day off.

Cycled over to TKMAXX in St Leonards - against the wind along the promenade. Lovely and bracing. One of the little double fronted Georgian houses along from the marina has been repainted... sunshine yellow and tangerine... very vivid. Went up London Road to Kings Stationers and bought a box of 100 10a Scalpel blades - very useful - the last one lasted me 8 years. Popped into a few of the charity shops, then back down the seafront to the big vintage store - great place, just like Flip on Long Acre in Covent garden back in the late 80's. Really big place - loads of very good menswear and womenswear - tried on a lot of Harris Tweed ( £15 each ) but all too small. Loads of very good men's tailored and hand finished shirting, and plenty Savile Row. After that - back down into town - through Old Town Hastings, popped into a few shops, spoke to a couple of people I know - and then cycled back up the hill in the sunshine.

It's pasta tonight - a nice half bottle of red and rhubarb with custard. I live like a king.
