Tuesday Night

Thoroughly enjoyed Pie Gate. I'm quite sure that every paper in the UK tomorrow morning will cary the headline 'Humble Pie' - or reference Wendi "BANZAI" Deng and her Kill Bill style defence of her cuddly billionaire 80+ husband. I thought the early session with the police representatives was far more interesting - the Murdoch's were shifty and Brooks was just plain annoying. She also seems to have picked up a slight Australian accent. I got a bit bored with the old man's doderyness. I hardly think you get to helm a multi-billion pound industry, have 52, 000 employees and have a reputation for utter ruthlessness - and convince with the "Nursey, brink me a soft blanket and warm milky drink" routine.

Busy day - had a useful meeting in the morning and a potential new job came in today as well - which I shall pursue later this week, pretty chock a block with work for the next few weeks - have about 4K in outstanding invoices - and nothing in the bank - will have to be either very clever or humble tomorrow.

Watched 'British Masters' part 2 on the iPlayer, which was fantastic - and the Gilbert and George interview, which was also very good ( for a repeat ).

I have to put together a film club program for college next year and I'm just working my way through the possibles. I have to teach 30 18 - 25 year olds every thing they need to know about popular culture in 30 weeks by showing a film after a 20 min talk.... so far I suspect I am going to be ruining a lot of young minds. I've managed to weave in everything from 'Laura' to 'Black Narcisus', 'Midnight Cowboy', 'The Abominable Dr Phibes' and 'Smashing Time'. I'm also keen on 'Peeping Tom' and 'Personal services'

I'll probably end up losing my job.

I've had some good news that my mate Roland has made quite a starting recovery from his stroke  is much more mobile but still not able to speak - and my friends Simone's greyhound - who also suffered a stroke - has some remaining mobility and may make a very acceptable partial recovery.

I really need a bit of time off, but it's not going to be for a few more weeks - I need to earn as much as I can for the moment - but a bit of actual spending money right now would be great... I could MURDER a drink.

I do very strongly hope that your friend Roland gets his power of speech back, what horror that must be for him. And how much we value living in countries with a National Health Service when something like this happens.

I know what you mean - he teaches, losing the power of speech is crippling, hope to be able to see him in the next couple of weeks.
