At least it's cooled down a bit now... It'd been obscenely hot all week, awful. It's also Old Town week - so the streets are full of bunting, jolly drummers, people in daft costumes and pissheads. I've avoided everything I can so far.
I'm still suffering the consequences of having 4 pints of lager 3 days ago - I'm such a lightweight. As itr's Saturday, I've been doing as much practical stuff as possible - and now I'm exhausted. Loads to do this weekend, but Sunday s quite a handy day for catching up.
Still in a remarkably good mood, despite the fact that everything has been shit for months - I'm on a real high - not in a manic way, just generally quite chirpy and content. I had intended to improve my diet while I still had money in the bank - but ended up today eating boiled eggs and soldiers, a half price margherita Pizza - some VERY reduced sushi with too much wasabi and 2 pots on Onken strawberry and wholegrain yoghurt... I dread to think what's happening inside. I've also done about 10 loads of washing and spent an hour trying to recondition a merino wool jumper with one of those stupid little fuzzaway things, gave up in the end and used the clippers I cut my hair with, much better result.
I decided to clear out some planchests and the haberdashery cupboard - I didn't get very far - it was too overwhelming a task - I essentially took everything out and then put it all back in again. I also managed a lot of washing and a spot of invisible mending. In addition I have a £20 Amazon voucher to spend and a Debenhams gift voucher to take advantage of tomorrow.
Had dinner at the house of someone I've known by association for some time, but only know properly quite recently. His house is staggeringly nice, his girlfriend is funny, smart, beautifull and he has the best view in the Old Town. He has a film coming out soon and I'm looking forward to seeing it - he's done a lot of music related vids over the years, including my favourite Morrissey Video - but the most disturbing and confusing thing about him is that he's the skinny blonde bloke in the Derek Jarman video for 'The Queen Is Dead' - which had a huge effect on me as a youngster... it's odd meeting people you have 'known' for decades in a different reality - and they turn out to be ... just normal people.
I have the office window open, there is a thick cloud of barberque smoke setting over the hill, it stinks - I really hate the smell of rotten, burnt meat...
The dogs hate the heat too - they are grumpy and disorderly...
