Lucian Freud

Very sad to hear of the death of Lucian Freud, although 88 and being a multi-millionaire , one of the most lauded and respected artists in modern society - and having the kind of respect and kudos that many other creatives can only dream about... isn't so very bad.
I've always been a big fan - except possibly some of his more celebrity based later works ( Kate Moss etc ). The Leigh Bowery sittings were a huge deal when I was still at college and got me interested in 20th century art - I was watching Modern British master last week and was reminded of how Freud then got me interested in Stanley Spencer and Francis bacon, so it all came from there. I was also intrigued how certain families seem to throw up generation after generation of high achievers in the arts.. not that I'm suggesting we get all the Freuds together and pick over their brains to see if there is something happening deep on the left hand side... but I bet there is.
