Thursday

Was up at 4am, yesterday was my last teaching day and I was so tired I went to bed at 8pm last night, exhausted. Just getting the shows together now.

I'm off to Brighton today to see the degree show there, and then to see a client - quite looking forward to the change of scene.

Yesterday I had to sort out a potential row when one of my students tried to use screen printing only to find that a group of posh school kids had been double booked and were in there life drawing, it was like a carry on film - and the fact that my student had already had 2 Redbulls didn't help - she was justifiably very angry - but there were limits to what I could do... the naked girl sat in the middle didn't seem at all bothered.

They are stripping out the studio on Friday to start putting up the degree show - so there will be no studio work, quite looking forward to that - we may possibly move to another studio after the shows - up on the 5th floor, quite a lot is up in the air - frankly the future of education is fairly confused and murky. One of my mates teaches Ceramics in Southport and it looks like they are closing the department there - which is criminal. We have 'wet' photography and darkrooms - the only ones between Bournemouth - South Kent and London - it's really important that we keep them. In a few years hardly anyone will have 'traditional' skills.

I like being up this early - going to walk the dogs properly and have a decent breakfast before I head off to Brighton, and might even get back early.
