Yesterday was staggeringly hot - I had intended gardening but could only manage half an hour - it was too hot and I had to come back inside for the sake of my own health.
Managed to get some work done, the dogs dozed and grumbled about the temperature - and watched a couple of films. The 2nd part of On The Beach was on the radio - and very good it was too - but also very grim.
I'm so glad that not having a TV means I get to miss such cultural highlights as Beyonce headlining Glastonbury - I know you think I'm a slob, but irony can't stretch that far for me and frankly - I wish she's just piss off and put a ring on it, as well as a sock.
The dog walk this morning was lovely - all the fields have gone crazy after the rain - knee deep in just a few days with grasses, thistles and other wild flowers - thousands of butterflies waking up and complex birdsong in the trees - I listened to two unidentified birds having what was quite clearly a conversation - with a very highly developed range of sounds. Today is expected to be the hottest day of the year - with thunderstorms to follow. I don't mind thunder - but the dogs hate it - Alfie gets very grumpy and testy - I generally just leave him alone under a blanket.
I have to do some copy writing today, need to get myself into the right mood for that, and start preparing the academic health report - a detailed review of the year - I quite like doing stuff like that - and they are pretty useful at work, I also have a couple of invoices to prepare - that always cheers me up - it's all going to the revenue... but I'm pretty close to having paid them off now.
Having out on weight - I tried on a suit I bought a couple of years ago and it fitted really well - it didn't before - I nearly took it to the Salvation Army shop earlier in the year - looks quite good on my now - quite pleased about that...it's almost 'fashionable'.

talking about birds..someone at the bus stop today told me there are parakeets on primrose hill and in regents park..maybe that's what i hear in the mornings!!
yeah, apparently there are so many they are thinking of culling or catching them - they are taking over the area and driving all the other birds out.
