The first day of June.

..and it's flaming. Lovely clear blue skies and hot sun from 6am.

I'm working commercially at home today. I went to a briefing in Brighton yesterday, and it's a nice project that I'll enjoy with a good consultancy I get on with.

Brighton was as busy as ever - and I don't know where the recession went, as everyone seemed to have shopping bags. Most people aged between 15 and 30 seemed to be wearing a Hollister T Shirt and most girls had h&M bags.

I can't get past that weird feeling when the train arrives at Brighton Station that I'm 'home' - it's been about 8 years since I left but it still has that odd pull. The big Borders at Churchill Square is now a giant Urban Outfitters, but I didn't have the time to look around. My old house has been painted a rather strong shade of butter - but they have done a good job and it now has a very smart new front door that probably cost a packet. I spoke briefly to an old neighbour last night and one of the houses at the end is on the market at £650,000. I could have wept.

I think the bit that I mis is the busyness - I liked having people around all the time. Brighton is actually quite a big place compared to Hastings. When I arrived home ( standing all the way ) the concourse outside the station and the Plaza in front of the college was empty - not a single person - it was only 6.30pm - but then it is half term - I find that dreary, empty 'Sunday' effect pretty depressing.

I had the good sense to not pick up any of the property magazines, that would have really depressed me. I'm going to be 45 in 6 weeks... that's grim enough.

In the news, Sarah Pallin is rumbling towards potentially trowing her hat into a very big and expensive ring. The papers are still debating is she intends to run.. for fuck's sake - OF COURSE SHE WANTS TO RUN. That's the whole point, if she gets any where near the approval and support she needs - she'll be there. One paper today thought that the real idea was to regain her general popularity with the right - but that's rubbish. She is spending massive amounts of cash to get up the ratings, many people are already investing in her and she's started that roller coaster to ruin. Hopefully it will run out of steam - sooner rather than later.

Right... boiled egg and soldiers.

There's really not very much on the news about her over here. I did see one report where they described her running as 'laughable'. General opinion is she won't run although she did have a pizza date with Donald Trump, maybe they're hatching a plan? That would be too funny.........or not.

SO much potential work for Tina Fey though, if Palin runs, so many new words that have not yet been invented, so much wildlife that has not yet been hunted down and shot.
Disney Jesus won't let this happen. Probably.
