It took less than a day - but I've now completed, and... wait for it... submitted my Tax Returns via the HMRC website. I've probably cocked up on the details - but they are essentially correct - and as I am ruthlessly honest... accurate, too. The site itself was OK - although there were a lot of things I didn't understand and navigation was quite difficult unless you know what you are doing. I couldn't figure out how a self employed person who also has an income that is taxed at source is able to get the figures adjusted to accommodate tax already paid - so I'm going to have to call - but by my calculations - having submitted 90/10 and 10/11 - with a tax bill outstanding of 5.5k... I have actually already paid well over 6.5k.. so they owe me money -it's just a case of getting them to accept it and 'talking' to them.
It's cooled down a bit now that it's dark - the perfume from several flowering shrubs and trees is intense - I have the office window open and the smell is amazing. I was in the garden earlier picking up dog shit ( as you do ) and I looked up to see that my neighbours have cleared their shrubbery and are now able to look straight into the garden and talk to me.
Personally - I've been finding the heat a bit much - I'm hoping that we get a bit of cooler weather soon, the dogs are grumpy too. I'm watching Withnail and I on the mini DVD player - I've seen the first half about 30 times, still don't know what happens in the end.

Mat's never seen it either, despite it being one of my favourite films. I think it is just getting in to the right state of mind to watch it - something that happened more often in our late teens!
'the right state of mind' is the main reason I have never seen the end - I'm always too pissed.
