Sunday morning

Very dark and damp - possibly brigtening later topday...

Not that much in the papers, I'm now immune to street riots and mass rallys in the middle and near east. Had a day off yesterday - which included an afternoon map... from 2pm to 5pm - not done that in many years, and I was in bed by 10. I really needed it, the last few weeks have been really difficult. I have loads of work to do this week, It's half term and I need to prepare for an inspection at work - I'll probably work at home tomorrow and then at college for the rest of the week.

Due to work I've had no real life and nothing interesting to say for weeks. I had an email from someone I've know since I was 18 chastising me for being mean to poor Justin Bieber on my Facebook page. I decided not to reply because I was too angry - but not realy sure where they are coming from. Bieber is, at best - a piece of cynical, pointless product placement by a group of greedy, grubbing and mean spirited wealthy music executives... or at worst an spoilt, immature, multi millionaire prick who should learn to keep his mouth shut. Personally I think that there is somethig really creepy about him - there was a discussion on News24 about his sex appeal - but I find that an underdeveloped 16 year old boy who looks like a sexually immature 14 year old androgynous child being sexualised ... frankly a bit 'off'. His comments about abortion and homosexuality in Rolling Stone made my blood boil - this is in the week that one of the students in the studio next to mine - an 18 year old boy with issues about his sexuality, took an overdose in college and was only saved by a quick thinking member of staff. Bieber has a massive fan base and is very influential - someone should tell him to shut up until he's a grown up.

Hastings is in the press again for the wrong reasons - I had an email via the Arts Forum on Monday morning to tell me that Giles Dudley - a local photographer working with the forces in Afganistan has been blown up by a land mine and lost both legs an an arm. Sobering.

Still in 2 minds about the whole 'Princess Anne' comes to Hastings thing - I'm not dressing up, she will just have to accept me for what I am ( very unlikely I'll meet her - I'm hardly on speaking terms with anyone at the Palace ) - not sure what she's going to do... cut a ribbon or something. Most people got confused and assumed it was Camilla - and one of my workmates ( Antipodean) thought it was Princess Margaret... now THAT I would have paid to see.

Your blog does make me chuckle (sorry if that's not the intended impression you want it to have).
For what it's worth, Princess Anne appears not to give a flying duck about clothes, if this example is anything to go by: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7517095.stm

I'm in complete agreement re Justin Beiber, the very sight of him makes me feel quite disgusted that I happen to be watching/reading something featuring him. Lucy.

Oddly enough - I actually remember the Royal Wedding and the moment she appeared in that frock - although I was only a child, I remember my mother gasped and said "that's beyond the pale - there is always one spectre at the feast" - took me years to realise what tat meant.

I'll let you know if she wears it again!

If you go to Youtube there is a clip of Bieber being shot to death on CSI - I've watched it on a look repeatedly.... has a very calming effect.

I really and truly blame Rolling Stone magazine, some of whose editorial staff and journos may actually be grown-ups. They are the ones responsible for giving this brat a voice. At (almost) 17, he's not old enough to vote, drink in a pub, or watch an R rated film on his own, so why are this irresponsible lot asking him questions about anything more controversial than what his favourite colour or movie is, let alone printing the tripe that spews from his stupid mouth?
