As the constant damp prevails and penetrates everything, I still have not planted any bulbs - the garden is too wet and horrible, I'm planning my weekend. Actually - there has been a lot of unexpected activity out there - the rhubarb is already starting to show through and all the fruit trees are in heavy bud. A lot of stuff seems to have survived better than expected and the strawberries are still with us.
Last night I had a very vivid and detailed dream that London had been beset by some unexplained disaster and was laid in ruins - and the few of us left had to scrabble around in the ruins to survive. It wasn't so bad - I spend some time living in a flat above a posh restaurant in of The Strand and was able to dress very well, thanks to Bond Street being mostly intact. There seemed to be very few people about - and eventually I made my way across the ruined city to somewhere like Tibury - and found my way back down on the south coast. I seem to remember the only real; issue being the lack of a dentist - my teeth had all started to move into funny positions and I wanted a brace fitted.
I'm not sure where it came from, but might have had something to do with me having been to a Private View earlier that served Rose... which was utterly rank - I've never had it before because it reminds me of Rose Hip Syrup - and I was right to avoid - it's one of those things that defies description.
I've had a quick poke about in the papers - nothing exciting so far. I have a lot to do today, including paying some bills - never a happy event. If it stays clear I will try and get the bulbs out later. Everything is going into tubs this year - I have grandise plans for re-working the garden, all I need is a bit of cash to buy some railway sleepers - it needs to be terraced properly, it's wanted doing for a while.
Little Mouse has wrecked the blinds in the front room and is now able to howl every time another dog walks past - even Alfie Greyhound is sick of it and stays in bed.
10 of my 12 year 2 students have now applied through UCA to complete their BAhons next year - I'm determined to get every one onto the course they want. This year - I made a point of getting them to apply to at least 3 universities each - and most have really thought about London, we don't normally do that and I'm actually quite pleased about it - so fingers crossed.
The YCN ( Young Creative Network ) books arrived, it's a national awards system for design students - all the colleges enter their students into many catagories and last year one of my students won the advertising prize - they must have really liked it - they gave him a double page spread to himself. I am determined to win more awards again this year - my predecessor was very proud of his achievements in that department and I can't let the side down.
Planning on having my first shave of the year later today.... domestic obligations on a Saturday include cleaning, washing and eeking out the pennies a bit further.
