Pretty whacked this morning - was tired anyway, but ended up going for a drink last night.
The Dragon was quite full - a DJ was playing some awful 'ironic' easy listening - a bit like Joe Meek meets the theme from Hawaii 5-O - no where near as interesting as it sounds. As is usual for Hasting's 'premier' night spot, there were legion of the harpie-yummy-mummy monsters, all on their 'divorce break' - white teeth, red nails and eyes like lazer beams. Fur gillets seem to be popular this season. We left before one of them tried drinking my blood.
The FILO was much better - although a large group of mixed foreign students were doing that thing where they take up huge amounts of space for no reason - and a group included a very aged but overdressed woman who was an 'actress' and obviously still gripped by the profession - and very vocal she was too. On the way up the high street a 'woman' who may not have been - was struggling up the road in front of us. It may have been Mickey Roake in drag - she/he was wearing stripper shoes that made any forward movement impossible, they were the kind of shoes designed for women who only intend to lie down. They were also about size 12. We didn't get a front view - but my opinion may have been formed by her grunting with the effort in a most unladylike way - and gripping the lamposts for support.
I was only out for a couple of hours but when I came home the dogs had tipped the bin and spread shredded rubbish all over the ground floor - and little mouse had pissed twice and done some bigger business in the dining room - I think they do it out of spite.
There is a piece on the telly ( it's about6.30am ) about 'property guardians' who live in empty places to deter squatters - they are calling it a new phenomena - I knew someone about 20 years ago who lived in a huge Regency mansion on Regents Park and paid the Crown Estates about 20 quid a week.
The man from Amazon is on the telly talking about the 'Kindle' - he's really creepy - I still don't understand how they can sell that thing - it defies logic for me, although I did have a student once who read a book on her iPhone because it was 'easier than carrying a heavy paperback around'.

I'm reading two books on my iphone at the moment.
I also hate carting books around and for someone like me with ADHD it makes concentrating much easier.
