New Year / New Font.
Bodoni is a classic serif font, designed in 1798 by Giambattista Bodoni, the main feature is increased contrast between the vertical strokes and curved elements. It's been revived and re-drawn many times since then and was a very popular wood and hot metal face from the 1820's to the 1970's. This is a new version that is based on Poster Bodoni - a very exaggerated and eye catching display font.
I've always really liked Bodoni - it's everything you expect a font to be - similar faces like Didot have moved towards a more sophisticated look - and the exaggerated, elongated strokes are a re-imagined version turned Harpers Bazzar into a world leading fashion magazine under the directorship of Fabien Barren in the 1990's. There are dozens of different re-cuts of this font, and it's constantly being modernised and updated - it's a bit like the square root of all modern serif display typefaces.
