I don't know what it is about this winter, but they are dropping like flies. I was really sad to hear that Susannah York had died. She was an underrated and often sidelined screen actress who did some exceptional early work. If you get the chance to see "They Shoot Horses..." or 'The Shout' - you will understand. She must also have had brass fucking balls to take on the incredible and unsympathetic role of Girlie in 'Sister George'. I always thought she had a look that told of something very dark inside, and I liked that. Oddly enough - several people I know have met her and instantly fell for her. A really sad loss. I was intrigued that the daily Telegraph had her death notice and obit up at least 2 hours before the news broke on through any agency....
Walked the dogs in what can only be described as front line conditions. They have been digging irrigation ditches in the country park to run off some of the water but it's not working - knee deep in some places. I have trench foot.
I'm going to show some work to a client later ( yes, I know it's Sunday ) and then I have to start on something else for next week. Very busy at the moment - I also have to deal with my cash flow - can't really put that off any longer.
Nothing of interest in the papers - all the award ceremonies have started and the usual 'ones to watch in 2011' lists - gormless, white toothed, tanned and shinning middle class graduates called 'Xanthe' and 'Polux" who do 'something' in interiors with driftwood - carefully posed pictures in over styled clothes and usually an abandoned warehouse backdrop, or - if it's the Telegraph, a decrepit ballroom in a festering country house somewhere -
"Romulus Hetterinton-Quimby makes divine writing accessories from the baleen of hump backed whales, sustainably sourced on the Baltic shores - he's keeping whole villages of indigenous nomads employed with crafting his fine instruments, he's saved a unique way of life and given the world the most delicious pencil holders, bravo!"
"Souki Sunflower-Dabney has written the most moving account of survival against the odds, a woman walks the entire length of the silk road with only a small talking kitten for company - a metaphysical comedy-tragedy, packed with detail and intrigue - exhaustingly researched with her own adventures as a season riding bareback across Mongolia - Souki is only 14 but already has a degree in classics from Ponce College Cambridge and runs her own vintage cashmere baby-grow company from the studio of her fathers Mansion off Regents Park.
Oh - and by the way... Andy Coulson... dead man walking... about fucking time.

I too was saddened when I read about Susannah York; they are indeed dropping like flies at the mo - she didn't seem as old as she was. I loved some of her films.
I also love that you're utterly obsessed with recording the weather!
that tiny chip has grown to a giant plank.....
it's the only 'wood' I allow myself these days.
one word: countryfile.......
