Not Xmas yet...

They are trying really hard on breakfast news to try and get me in the spirit... but it's not working. A gurning weather girl in tinsel sitting on Santa's knee giving us a severe weather warning does not really work for me. Today's TV includes The Xmas edition of 'Are You Being Served and 'The Andy Williams Show".

I still have not actually done any shopping - there is no food or drink in the house and I'm half minded not to bother. I may try the old trick of wandering into the supermarket after lunch on Xmas eve and checking out the reductions - you always get a Boxing Day news story "I bought a family sized turkey for £1p".

Lembit Opik is on the telly talking about the rather shitty Daily Telegraph political leaks - he's being quite intelligent and sensible - I've never actually listened to him talk 'business' before - but he is actually quite smart. The two fools interviewing him are idiots. Personally I think the focus on this one is all wrong - The Daily Telegraph have not been censured for their actions - sending people in to see members of parliament during their surgeries - which one would assume is private - and then recording them after leading the informal conversations towards criticism of the coalition. I think that's very grim.

I watched the Obama speech yesterday as he signed the bill to repeal the 'Don't Ask / Don't Tell" policy - he was actually very good - very much back to the 'Yes We Can' mood. Apparently his ratings are well on the rise over there after the recent blip - a good thing. I never understood that policy - I can accept that it might have been a compromise at the time - but really... what a complete load of bollocks.

The rest of the news is pretty dull, it's still too dark to walk the dogs and I'm just thinking about today.... possibly more clearing out in the loft - the bin men are due tomorrow - I'm really hoping they turn up, I can't bear the thought of bin bags hanging around for 2 weeks.
