I made it through the rain..

Well... snow actually.

Managed to walk to work - took 40mins.  The snow was much deeper than I thought and it was over a layer of hard packed ice. It's still snowing now and freezing - more forecast.

It really wouldn't be such a problem - if only they actually GRITTED THE FUCKING ROADS AND PAVEMENTS.

There is no gritting or salting anywhere. If you don't know Hastings - it's a natural harbour with lots of very high terraces leading up the hill on both sides of a natural valley - all the roads are steep, most pavements are stepped and made of York stone so they are always frozen at this time of year - and the snow settles and packs into ice. To be fair - it is really hard to get about without gritting, lots of people were abandoning their journeys this morning because the main road out of Hastings to Dover was totally impassible at Ore - and it was very quiet - we are all so risk averse most people are at home watching Loose Women.

My road is very, very steep - any ice and it's a death trap - but people still try to drive up it. Wankers.
