Cleaning out my closet

I did the vintage and retro sale today, it was an interesting event - I was pretty much all the vintage and retro, most people were just doing general jumble and baby clothes. It was quite quiet - but astonishingly... I made £100 profit, far more than anyone else... the poor girl opposite me took nothing.

I used to do boot sales and I hated it - people are quite unpleasant up close. Why is it that when you are trying to sell a pair of something... bookends, for example - even after taping them together - someone only wants one... and why do so many people come in and say "I'm just looking - I have not brought any money" - and then spend 30 mins carefully picking their way through everything. I had a box of vintage snow globes, but I didn't sell any ( actually - I'm glad ) but almost everyone who came into the sale was compelled to pick every one up and shake it - staring wide eyed at the pretty scenes...

Lots of people came in with prams and friends - and walked around talking but ignored every single stall and walked out - and for some reason - a green floaty dress on the next stall was examined, studied and seriously considered by every single person who came in - male or female, but eventually not sold. People stared at it for ages and held it up top the light... perhaps they could see faces in the pattern.

I actually quite enjoyed myself - saw several people I work with and met someone I've know virtually for a couple of years but have only ever stood behind in a supermarket queue before.
I don't miss anything I sold - and the stuff I brought back was generally stuff I'm happy to keep.

The profit will go to paying my bills - but tonight I am having pizza and wine, yes... it's that Chilean stuff from last time that's half price, it's Time Time, Countryfile, Strictly and an early night for me.
