Friday

I'm exhausted - half term has gone in a blur and I still have loads to do. I actually feel pretty rough and worn down. I went to bed early last night and watch about half an hour of 'Tinker Tailor' and then fell asleep.

I saw my sister yesterday for the first time in 4 years - she's absolutly lovely - so lovely I find it increasingly hard to believe we are related - they were in London visiting her husbands family and braved the A21 for a trip to the seaside and fish and chips.

Yesterday started badly - Alfie Greyhund had one of his mental episodes and was off for an hour and a half, barking hystrically and refusing to come back to me - really stressed me out - frankly at one point I lost it and started screaming at him, in the middle of a wet field at 7.30am. I saw someone in the distance running away.

I've been invited onto the panel of the Hastings Regeneration Committee, I'm quite happy about it - even though it's more unpaid work. It ties in with a lot of the long term planning I have started at the college. It's really important to find ways to get people to settle in the area after they graduate and start businesses here - rather than in London and Brighton. Hastings really needs to cultivate the education / creative quarter - the new college I work in and the other new college they have just started building for UCH are just the start. University Quarters are a brilliant way to turn a town around - the environment around the station and Havelock are is now really different since Station Plaza opened - and the more higher level courses we start then the better things will be.

Talking of which, we may get paid today - and I still have almost £10 left - I wold have had more but I needed tea bags, and some things are too important to let slip. In fact - I could probably manage to get to Monday without spending any more than I have - but I think I need a drink.

It's solid work now all the way to Xmas - mostly poorly paid and thankless - but it could be worse ( or better... depending how you think about it )
