Terror in the night

I was in London yesterday - a longer post abut that later... but was tucked up in bed by midnight - and then.....

At about 3am there was a lot of noise downstairs - at first I thought it was one of those idiot cataloge or phone books suppliers that like to crash them through the letterbox in the middle of the night. Turned out someone or something had tried to get in through the kitchen window. The noise was a radio and bowl of cougettes tumbling to the floor.

It can't have been a burglar - it's impossible to get into my garden without climbing over some very high fences from another garden - and they had not attempted to open the window fully, and as much as I'd like it to be one of the new breed of monster urban battle foxes....it's not that likley. it was almost certainly a cat - we have very bold feral cats here that have no fear.

The annoying thing is that neither dog was interested - just as well.... the chaos would have been terrible - both dogs have a pathalogical hatred of cats.

I know a woman who was awakened by her cat meowing loudly and stomping on her chest. Turned out a burglar was in her house. This woman had a dog too. The dog was hiding silently under a table. Who would have thought it?

When we lived in Islington we were burgled (three times) through a very small kitchen window. We too lived in the middle of a block surrounded by gardens with high fences. The police told us they shove a kid in through the window who then opens the door......

yeah - that used to happen in Aldgate - we would find kiddie handprints, they were under the age of criminal responsibility so they could not be prosecuted if caught on the job

How creepy! I hope it was a cat. And not a cat burglar.
