I've not paid that much attention them for a few months, I've had far too much to do, so I had a quick scoot around. They are terrible - really crass.
Liam Fox appears to be in a lot of trouble because he has a slightly dim best friend who hangs around like a sad puppy and everyone is nice to because they feel sorry for him. Apparently, that's not allowed.
The orange celebrity bloke who married Jordan Katie Vice is now engaged to that silly tart who was married to a pop star and ruined his career - they got engaged on live telly - as I remember it - her career started by pretending to be famous, and it's still the same story - several years later.
Lots of really pointless trivia in the Sunday Mail - including an interview with the 'hot' winner of The Apprentice, who left her job because she felt she wasn't taken seriously enough - she is photographed in a 'hot' dress looking 'hot', on the floor with a lot of 'hot' leg showing. I can't take her seriously.
As an aside, one of the local restaurants - The Azur on the Marina, is hosting a lap dancing event - with a special curry menu... the mind boggles. The newly formed chapter of the local Women's Institute ( now, I'd better add that they are not like the usual WI - they are mostly angry artists, writers and lesbian activists with a set of sharp minds and no interest in baking cakes ). I'm not really sure why they connect Spicy Curry with having a nearly naked girl bump and grind her reproductive organs in your face - must appeal to someone. I was in the pub with one of my mates earlier in the week and a girl came up and gave us a card for another lap dancing event at a place 'just up by The Tubman - down an alley, it's really nice " - I know that area, and it's not. Personally - I think lap dancing degrades women and men, it's pretty offensive all round - but not as offensive as the deluded fools who think it's "a really great way to get fit, and 'empowering for women'... can't get my head around that one.
Quite a bit more rumbling about the Knox trial and verdict - big piece in the Times, which is behind a paywall so I can't read it. Personally - having given this a lot of thought, and despite not being there or in any way qualified to make a judgement in any way. I think that what really happened is pretty much obvious. Rudy Guerde - who is now serving 16 years for the murder - was a friend of Know and her boyfriend, and not Kercher. There in no reason for him to be at the house unless he was invited by them - or brought back there. It's pretty clear from the conclusive evidence that Guerde raped and almost certainly killed Kercher - but from the very start, knox lied repeatedly about her part, and tried to shift reponsibility elsewhere. In her very first statement - she said she hid in the kitchen and shielded her ears from the screams - and after that tried to shift blame and responsibility elsewhere. She may well be able to say she did not actually kill Kercher, but I'm pretty sure that she was at the house, and whilst not playing an active part - has some measure of guilt. She can't change her story - nether can Guerde - who could never admit his guilt ( he too claims to be at the house but in another room during the killing ). An attempt was made by someone with a cool head to make the room look as if an intruder had been there - not something the drugged up and less than intelligent Guerde could manage. Knox always struck me as someone who wouldn't take responsibility and wanted to blame everyone else, clutching at straws and looking for away out - once it was clear - fairly early on, that she could not really be linked to the actual killing, all she has had to do is stick to her story and remain steadfast and tight lipped. Of course, I'm in no way qualified to call any of this fact - but it's like I said before... her eyes are too close together.
